Cuando la educación favorece al desarrollo global de la persona, el panorama mejora. De nada sirve intentar que el ser humano tenga un cúmulo de conocimientos, si no sabe si le pueden ayudar para su satisfacción personal. Es muy importante aprender a ser para posteriormente aplicar todo lo demás. Vamos a explicar mejor este concepto en nuestro artículo de hoy. ¡Acompáñanos!

La importancia de aprender a ser

Es muy importante que la educación fomente el desarrollo global de cada persona. Es decir, que favorezca al cuerpo y mente, inteligencia, sensibilidad, sentido estético, responsabilidad individual, espiritualidad, etc. A través de su formación integral debe dotarse de un pensamiento autónomo y crítico para elaborar un juicio propio y poder determinar por sí mismos qué deben hacer en las diferentes circunstancias de la vida.

En la actualidad pareciera que hay prisa para llenar a los chicos de conocimientos y habilidades, cosa que no está mal. Sin embargo, es fundamental dar importancia, en primer lugar, al bienestar de la persona. Esto implica su desarrollo pleno, es decir, trabajar en sus actitudes emocionales que son las siguientes:

Autoconcepto. Es la imagen que tenemos de nosotros mismos. El conjunto de opiniones, ideas, valoraciones y sentimientos que nos formamos sobre nosotros mismos. Nos permite conocer nuestras características y capacidades tanto personales (habilidades, rasgos físicos, etc.) como sociales las cuales son valoradas como positivas o negativas y dan lugar a diferentes sentimientos. Se construye a base de experiencias propias y las valoraciones y opiniones de los demás. En la adolescencia este concepto adquiere una gran importancia ya que fundamenta la base de la personalidad. Es muy recomendable prestar atención al desarrollo de los chicos en esta etapa especial.

 Autoestima. Se trata del aprecio que se tiene por uno mismo. Depende de cómo nos hayan hecho sentir las circunstancias personales y sociales a lo largo de la vida. En base a ello podemos tener alta o baja autoestima, la cual afecta nuestro desarrollo y por supuesto el aprendizaje. Lo ideal es que la persona tenga aprecio por sí misma para poder desarrollarse de manera integral.

 Empatía. Como ya sabemos la empatía consiste en ponerse en el lugar de otros. Por ello, para educar siempre hay que pensar cómo se siente la persona que estamos formando, antes de querer que ellos se pongan en el lugar de los demás.

 Asertividad. La habilidad que nos permite expresar libremente nuestras ideas y opiniones, sin agredir a los demás y sin ser agredidos es asertividad. Mediante esta habilidad las personas obtienen la capacidad de defender sus derechos y sentimientos, y aprender a decir que no también.

Aprender a ser implica también trabajar en las habilidades sociales y actitudes para alcanzar la madurez psicológica que permita enfrentarse a las adversidades, afrontar fracasos y alcanzar sus metas y objetivos.
